Before East Ohio, I was at a different college and extremely unhappy. I took a break for a month to really think about what I wanted in life. That’s when I heard about East Ohio College, and I knew I needed to check it out. When I arrived, I had my mind set that it was just another school that wants me to apply. However, I decided to give it a chance. After meeting with Admissions Advisor, Donna, I quickly realized I was completely wrong. The staff and faculty went out of their way to show me that they genuinely cared about my future endeavors.
I chose to enroll at East Ohio because I was warmly greeted and cared for as soon as I walked in the door. I also chose my major in medical assisting because I love [helping] people, and I knew that any job I wanted had to revolve around doing just that. My experience as a medical assisting student was nothing short of amazing. I have never felt more successful because of what I was given here at East Ohio. The instructors and faculty truly care about you and want you to succeed. I cannot express how many times they took time out of their day to help me with whatever I needed.
In the classroom and in clinicals and externship, I had the opportunity to learn and absorb so much. In my Career Preparation course, I created a uniquely tailored professional resume and career portfolio. There were countless opportunities to learn and grow during my time at East Ohio. I enjoyed the education, the faculty, and my peers. It was really a family here. I always called East Ohio a home away from home because I always wanted to be here.
After graduating, I had the opportunity to come back to this family as their new Administrative Assistant. I started in February, and I love my role here so far because I love being surrounded by loving people and helping students. I feel as though I can uniquely relate to students because I was once in their shoes. I hope I can give East Ohio as much as this school has given me, and I hope that I continue doing work in this school because I am truly grateful for it.
